Nineteen

Now there are 19 waiting families with our facilitator. I've been keeping track. The two latest families include professional musicians and rocket scientists. F**k me. I think i might be starting to get crabby.

Not to mention my little job is going to turn into a full time job (blech) when i take over for the PREGNANT chick when she goes on maternity leave. Plus I think I heard another chick in the office is pregnant.

Our update is on the tenth. I can pretty much tell you what it's going to say.

I'm REALLY tired of this cold cold arctic weather. We're under yet another winter storm warning. 5 -8" of snow, near white out conditions, -20 to -30 degree + wind chill. Yippee! At least I don't have to worry about taking a baby out in that kind of weather right?

  1. Ouch. Those temps would kill me!
Im sorry about the added families... think of it this way- would you want your kid being raised by professional musicians? Thats not the life I would choose for my kid- I want a family life- not an absent parent touring, etc.
    Have hope :)

  2. I know the feeling...we're adopting independently. We get some leads and then they never seem to go anywhere. It's frustrating. Hang in there.

  3. I know it is discouraging, but maybe the thing to look at is that the families that are really different from you are not the ones you'd be "competing" with -- do you know what I mean? By representing yourself accurately, you'll get a potential birthmother that is in the groove with you and your life, making it a better match. Hang in there. I know it's difficult. As for the weather, I can't even fathom.

  6. Our agency's waiting family numbers have been growing too...placement numbers have been low too...frustrating....ughghg...

I work with five people and one is out on maternity leave now. I get so frustrated by the additional work that gets passed my way. Not to mention, sadly I dread the day she comes back more (not looking forward to her talk about her little one at home).

    Hoping for better days ahead!

  7. Hi there, just thought I'd pipe in and say I know how you feel. When we went through adoption classes I found myself comparing us to every other couple. Now that we've moved our file over to community services, we've been invited to a social/informational thing with other waiting couples, and I'm not sure I want to go, for the same reason! I also don't want to walk into the room and find there are people there we know (it's a very small world where we live). That happened to us at our adoption classes...friends of ours were sitting there looking at us when we walked in!
Where are you geographically? Those temps sound like Canada! :)

    Take care,
