We're going with a facilitator. We just don't want to handle the screening/find ourselves. Of course, that means we now have more paperwork to fill out.
We are done with our SW except for waiting for the written report. We have verbal approval from her at this point. It doesn't appear that she used any references other than the ones we gave her. We had another almost 2.5 hour meeting with her last Friday to go over the TWO questions she forgot to ask us. We are not obligated to use her for post placement :-)
I went berserk at garage sales again last week. I got 5 or 6 outfits, what to expect the first year, and two huge baby gates - one of which has never been out of the box - all for under $10! My sister has the same baby gate and says one of them was $100!

Congratulations on taking the next step and deciding to use a facilitator. When I was looking at independent adoption, the prospect of screening moms and having no in-between was the hardest part for me, so going with a facilitator sounds like a good idea to me! And yay on the garage sale finds - it's getting to be that time of year!
ReplyDeleteWe're with a facilitator. I know that it's really tough to decide who to go with...an agency or facilitator. Great idea about checking out the garage sales...we drove by one this weekend and they were selling lots of baby stuff, but we didn't stop. And now I'm thinking that we should have at least checked the stuff out.
ReplyDeleteWe went with a consultant group and through them we signed up with 5 agencies that didn't charge horrendous application fees. It took us 3 months to get matched and bring our daughter home.
