SO....When I was talking to my sister yesterday she said "everyone around me is pregnant". I replied, "Oh really? Who?" She names two or three ladies and then says, "and there's one more but I can't say anything for a week." Well, it turns out it's this friend of hers who I know. She has terrible PCOS. They did all sorts of procedures on her so they could do IVF but the damage/disease was so much that the doctors wouldn't even attempt an egg retrieval.
They adopted two boys through foster care. The boys are half brothers. The youngest one is three. I think the older one is seven.
She hasn't been feeling well. Finally went to the doctor. He says "when did you last use birth control?" She replies, "1999." yup! spontaneously pregnant. I should be happy for her but I can't say that I am.

Oh, I know. I like to think that is a ginormous urban myth, although I do know people it has happened to. So much for the myth. Can't help how you feel...it's tough to be truly happy for someone who is pregnant being women who have dealt with IF. However, when someone else has struggled with IF and finally becomes pregnant, I seem to take it a little better. For me, it's much different then when fertile myrtles get pregnant...

ReplyDeleteI know it's a myth, I know it's a myth, I know it's a myth...but I've had my period come late a couple of times since Evie was born and my first thought is always....you know. Anyhow, we have friends through church that had IF and tried for years to conceive but finally decided to live child-free. 12 years after they started TTC, after they had completely given up on it, they got PG. Biology is so frustrating.
